Looking for some insight/direction for writing a Statement of Purpose for Masters at Kyodai as a foreigner.

Hi all, as the title says, I’m currently looking to apply to Kyodai to do a masters and and I was wondering if anyone had any experience writing an SOP for their AAO (and general application) process.

Their site doesn’t really give too much of a guideline on what to write stating: “Please write the statement as you like, including additions or changes to help convey your academic achievements and research proposal (the crucial part of your application!) more accurately.”

So I was hoping to ask around for some more specific information for writing the SOP. Obviously they want to hear about my research interests and academic stuff, but what about more general topics like “Why do you want to study in Japan”, “What do you hope to do in the future after studying at Kyodai”, etc. Are these topics that would be worth bringing up or are they very specifically interested in academic/research ability?

If there’s anyone here that has gotten into Kyodai as an international student, I would love to be able to pick your brain on the topic as I’ve got some questions about the AAO process vs the department specific application process.

Alternatively, if anyone knows any resources, such as SOP reviewers/editors, that are familiar with Japanese University applications, I would love to hear about them.

Anyways, thanks ahead of time!

PS: Im trying to get into Kyodai’s Zoology department to work under a specific supervisor. Just thought I’d mention it since there might be differences between applying to STEM departments vs liberal arts departments.
