I spent two months travelling Japan (Honshuu, Hokkaido, Okinawa) this summer. It was my first time in Japan. These are some of my favorite photos. Enjoy!

In case somebody is interested: During summer semester 2022 I was an exchange student in Tokyo. Even though there were harsh entry restrictions for foreigners, we were still able to travel to Japan eventually. After my studies I went on trips with friends, starting with Hakone, going to Kawaguchiko, where we climbed Mount Fuji during the night to see the sunrise. Went on to Nagoya, Osaka, Nara and Kyoto. From Tokyo I took a ferry to Hokkaido and visited several towns on the countryside and after that I flew to Okinawa and some small islands next to it. Everything took about 2 months and it definitely was the best time of my life, I loved every moment of it. What makes it better is that it was my first time visiting Japan. I am very grateful for it.
I put my instagram tag on the photos because of potential image theft, I hope you don’t mind and enjoy my photos!

  1. Amazing pics and serve as a nice little travel diary. I could imagine what it might have been like to travel to these places. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Wow, such a beautiful country indeed!! Cannot believe those places exist on earth. It felt like they are so much out of this world!

And yes, your shots are really great too! Loved them!! Its really refreshing to see!

  3. I remember climbing Fuji when I was a student. As it was summer I didn’t have anything warmer than a hoodie and the top of Fuji was like 5C or so. The hot chocolate was a welcome treat at the top.
Hope you had warmer gear with you.

  4. Really good shots, variety, color, composition.

(And yes, the iPhone is a great camera, nothing ‘bad’ about just using that, and the Photos app has plenty of power–tho editing is more easily done on a laptop.)

  5. I went in 2019 to Japan, I am Dutch.
    Beautiful pictures you made!!!
Now I want to go back there more and more!

  6. I want to see these flower fields soooo badly, are they worth the hype? I‘ve been to Hokkaido in Winter and the main reason for returning in Summer would be them. 🙈
