Is Amazon Prime being weird lately?

So I needed some items and checked Amazon. I have prime membership so I was checking when the parcels would arrive and it kept changing dates. For the street light I ordered for our porch, last night it showed it would be shipped Wednesday the earliest. I needed it on the weekend preferably so we can assemble it during our day off but I ordered it anyway. Today, I casually checked and it became earliest shipping Tomorrow. I was a little confused why it changed when yesterday actually bought them more time than today. I checked again an hour later and it changed to Tuesday and 2 hours later I checked to see if it had changed and now it’s on Tomorrow again. I’m just wondering because I’ve been using Amazon Japan prime for years now and never experienced this.

  1. Prime day or whatever it was. Big sales event. Made for getting anything in a timely manner not so timely.

  2. Prime day is the biggest Amazon sales event, and it was last Tue-Wed. Right now Amazon is very backlogged.

  3. It’s possible that what you ordered is going to be drop-shipped from China. Which means someone probably just orders it from Aliexpress with your address as the delivery address. In these cases it can take anywhere from two weeks to a month to arrive.

If it’s not Prime delivery, then there is a high chance it was dropped shipped.

  4. I ordered a bunch of stuff off Amazon and the dates of some packages changed as well.

  5. Not the exact same thing, but earlier today when I was ordering something it said delivery tomorrow, but then in the option to select the time of delivery, the earliest date it had available was next Friday 🤔. So I kind of wonder when exactly that item will arrive but anyway. Interesting to know about the prime day stuff.

  6. I ordered some headphones on Thursday and it isn’t coming til Monday so…. I guess they just have a mammoth backlog or something.

As for the delivery date being changed after the fact…. do you live in the middle nowhere or something? I’m in a non-rural part of Chiba.
