I will be leaving Japan in the next few weeks and need a tax agent to pay my residence tax on my behalf and would also like them to collect the taxed portion of my pension. I have a friend who is willing to be my agent but I would prefer to avoid it if possible. English support isn’t necessary.

Any accountant could probably do it for you, especially ones that specialize in expats. They’ll probably charge you a hefty fee though, when a friend could just do it for free.
If I recall all they should need to do is 1. submit a form and 2. send you the money that they will receive on your behalf.
