1. The yakuza is not a gang.

   The term _yakuza_ refers broadly to the Japanese world of organized crime. It’s more like the Japanese equivalent of _mafia_ or _mobsters_ in general.

   Just like the mafia is not a single gang, the yakuza is not a single gang either.
