The filing deadline is also the deadline to pay, so if you end up owing more, you may incur penalties and interest will start to accrue on what you owe.
If you only have one source of income and not many deductions, it’s pretty easy to file on your own. Is there something that requires the services of an accountant?
I’m confused why do you even need to file to begin with? Do you have a side hustle or something? You said yourself here that your employer withholds your income tax already
If you file the taxes late, you will have to pay some interest (and I think a fixed late fee that isn’t too much) on the amount.
It’s not too hard to do yourself though. The tax agency has a PDF showing all the steps through the e-tax procedure in English [0]
On a related note, I have already filed and paid, but if I make a genuine mistake will they notify me and when? If it’s within the deadline will a penalty still be applied?
File your taxes on time! You can submit corrections later if you fuck up. Better to have something than nothing.
Once, I screwed up my taxes and forgot to include income from a job after I switched to a different one. I realized this like 4 months later and went to the tax office to fix it. It was super quick and they adjusted my payments to account for the extra without penalizing me or putting anything nasty in the record.

You may get rejected for PR if you apply for it.
