Bedding Rental Costs in Tokyo

So the university I’m going to study at charges a bedding rental service of 21,560 yen. This includes a comforter, an urethane mattress, a pillow, a comforter cover, sheets and a pillowcase. I was wondering if anyone knows any cheaper options of bedding rentals in Tokyo. Perferrably if they include the same items as the one my university offers. Or any websites (English-friendly) that are good rental services.

Edit: I’m only staying for 4 months (a semester)

  1. I don’t know about rental but you could look on muji and nitori site to see how much new items cost

    There’s also ikea in Tokyo

Probably not for the mattress and comforter but you could also bring sheets, pillow and cover from home in your luggage

I don’t know if it’s the same at Japanese universities but my dorm mattress in North America was total crap lol I wish I had thought to buy my own … twin mattresses don’t typically cost much

  2. Is it 21k for the whole four months? Otherwise for that much you could buy a pretty nice set and then just 粗大ごみ it at the end.. Someone else said Muji or Nitori, the futons usually come in a vacuum sealed bag and aren’t too difficult to lug back

  3. nitori has a full bedding set (matress topper, comforter, pillow, and all sheets) for 6000 yen total

  4. If you’re not fussy sleeper, you can probably by floor mattress on rakuten for cheap and some blankets and pillow. If you’re gonna be in Japan in summer, you can probably get away with a big towel. Japanese people use it too it’s called タオルケット

  5. hey OP! are you going to be staying at RUID asakadai/shiki? was going through the exact same dilemma when i saw the email today :”)
