Weekend Stupid Questions Thread – 04 March 2023

As per usual, feel free to ask any silly stupid questions or not so silly stupid questions that you haven’t had a chance to ask here. Be kind to those that do and try to answer without downvoting. Please keep criticism and snide remarks out of the thread.

  1. What are hourly salary wages for people in program like JET or similar English teaching job?

not interested in working for that btw

  2. Wokeup with dry mouth and stiff neck. Feels like something stuck up right around tonsil. Was having mo issue until yesterday :/

  3. Is it realistic/possible to go to Fuji Rock for one day from central Tokyo and come back the same night after the headliner? I’m guessing due to last trains that you would probably have to stay somewhere overnight.

  4. I’m looking for over-the-ear earmuffs that can easily be worn when lying down. Any ideas?

I might try normal ear muffs with a band over the top, but a band behind the neck would definitely not work. Are there any other options?

I can’t use ear buds or ear plugs because of an inner ear problem.

Edit: Sorry I wasn’t clear. I’m looking for earmuffs to reduce noise like what construction workers wear. (not to keep my ears warm and not for audio) https://imgur.com/a/csvKV66

  5. How does one keep a house clean? I had no problem keeping our apartment clean, but our house exhaust the ever living out of me.

  6. I’m curious about what’s going on with the ultranationalist caravans and the police. Sometimes, but not always, the police are out in huge force while the ultranationalists go around blasting their garbage, im out for a walk today and there are dozens of them with those big caltrop things and portable accordion wall sets, running out in to the street to block off some of the intersections while the busses go by. Why? I can’t work out what they are trying to prevent, and it’s only sometimes, much more often the busses go around and no one takes notice.

  7. I’m going to be moving to Nagoya in April for a year and the apartment has sent an email about things I might want to rent (it’s an unfurnished apartment). With my monthly rent at 80,000 (bills not included), I feel that some of the prices for rental furniture would not be worth it, such as a futon set or microwave for 1,100, and the wifi at 4,400 with an initial setup fee of 4,400. Having to pay around 90,000 a month *as well as* utility and water is too much.

So I’m thinking I should buy my own futon set, but the wifi is a different dilemma. Should I use pocket wifi? I think it’s cheaper, and I’m only there for a year. What do you guys think?
