I applied for my visa extension a week and a half ago, but because of my mom’s health I have to go back to the US on the 6th of April for only 10 days.
If by any chance my visa extension has not arrived by that date can I still go and come back to Japan?

Yes, but just to be safe you may want to let immigration know and they can hold your result notification until after your scheduled date of return.
I had the same situation happen where I felt like I might be rushing back to my country before my grandma passed and immigration was really nice about it and they actually pushed my application through faster. Just tell them about your situation
