JDM Car Help

Any advice on how to find a R32, R33, or A80 or even a ae86 without spending an arm, leg, kidney, and first unborn child??

  1. The favorable (for buyers) change in the exchange rates drove the JDM sports market for anything close to 25 years old through the roof. Your pretty much SOL.

  2. If there was a way to find them cheap, EVERYBODY would be doing it. I run an auto shop and even wrecked GTRs sell for more than clean models did 10-14 years ago did. At this point a used R35 is the cheapest option.

I bought my R32 GTR back when they were usually 800,000 yen. My GT-R was recently appraised for 5,000,000 yen. I’m never selling it though. Back then A80s were 500,000 yen all day.

Also, you don’t want an R33. Compared to the 32 and 34, it’s shit. But if you want a bargain, get a 33. They’re the cheapest of the 3….for a reason. The GTR owners clubs here in Japan have a gentlemen’s agreement to never sell to exporters. They want to keep as many GTRs in Japan as possible. They always joke to R33 owners “Except you guys, you guys can send yours overseas”.
