Low Rent Areas w/ Good Access to Umeda

Does anyone know any low rent areas with good access to the Umeda area of Osaka? Any information on renting at a very low price but in an area near Umeda (or with good access to it in terms of the train lines etc) would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Do you have more specific numbers for budget and size and commuting distance or times? It would help narrow things down.

But off the top of my head the hanshin line in Osaka and Amagasaki tends to be cheap.

  2. Taisho on kanjo sen (fir curious folks, kanjo sen is Osaka’s Yamanote line)

  3. You might have luck in r/Osaka.

What size place are you looking for, are you only planning on renting or do you have the option to buy? How modern/updated do you want the building/area? Do you mind more industrial areas? How far are you willing to be from Umeda?

Awaji is a short ride away and now might be a good time to get in before it starts to gentrify. There’s a whole mess of generational trauma and obvious societal problems over there, but it’s cheap.

The loop line might be a good guide for your search. Fukushima is too expensive, but Noda, Nishikujo, Bentencho are all relatively cheap and accessible. In the opposite direction towards Tenma there are some cheaper options, but Kita-ku can vary wildly.

  4. Nakatsu, walking distance to umeda and almost half price.

Juso, you can ride your bike to umeda and is less than half the pice. You have to croos a large bridge thou.

  5. How low we talking? ラパンジール都島 is one I used to introduce people to when price was the most important factor. 18,000 a month, internet, gas and water included. 11m2.

  6. My first apartment here was in Tsukamoto. Cheap as hell, one stop from Umeda on a local JR line but quite shit haha. Though it was shit because it was boring more than anything else, so that depends on the person.

My friend to lives in Juso. A tad grotty/seedy but great if you like eating and drinking, very lively and friendly. People walking around all hours so not really dangerous. Close to Umeda and also good connections to other Hankyu lines. It’s convenient but it is basically a nightlife place

Nakatsu probably would be my top recommendation. Nice, quiet but within walking distance to Umeda. On the Midosuji line. Not sure how cheap it really is though!
