Hey, guys.
So I’m got ahold of some SRT files for the anime Monster and was trying to study from them. When I open any of these files up the text appears somewhat garbled. I was hoping someone else may have had a similar experience that could provide me with a tip on how to fix these files. All advice is welcome.

If they display correctly in the media player then make sure you’re opening them with the correct encoding in your text editor.
On a different approach, you could use stuff like [this](https://tools.m-bsys.com/dev_tools/char_corruption.php) if the text isn’t too long.
Solution Found! I didn’t realize I was opening these SRT’s with Windows’ “WordPad”. When I open them with “Notepad” the text is no longer garbled and features perfectly fine Japanese text. 🙂
