Advice/Need help with applying to a Language School using my GI Bill.

Good evening/Afternoon all!

I am at this point, desperate.
I’ve been wanting to go to a language school in Japan for quite some time.
I just applied to Academy of Language arts in Tokyo & im a little nervous because I am not sure if this school is VA approved or if there’s any way to make this so. The said individual said they are welcoming it but are not sure about how it works. And truth be told I don’t know what I’m doing in terms of applying. So I’ve come here to ask, what can I do to make this possible? I am currently waiting on my CoE approval which is likely because of my time in service and I am also 100% VA disability.

I apologize if I am not being clear. But I am asking for any veterans that have gone through something similar.

Short answers: no it isn’t, and no there isn’t.

Language school is not a place that will give you any job related skills or accreditation for any future careers. Full stop.

If you want to find schools in Japan that are approved for GI Bill, use the weams tool on the VA website: https://inquiry.vba.va.gov/weamspub/searchInstEmpty.do?d-49653-p=2&searchInstitutionCriteria.progType=All+Types&searchInstitutionCriteria.stateCd=&searchInstitutionCriteria.instName=&searchInstitutionCriteria.yrAcdmYear=&searchInstitutionCriteria.countryName=Japan&searchInstitutionCriteria.searchOption=C#content-area

I would strongly recommend rethinking what it is you plan to get out of your higher education and use that GI Bill to get you the best possible education to enable your future career.

By all means, if you have the time and money for language school go for it and have a blast doing it. But don’t waste your GI Bill benefits on it.

    It is not.

There is a grand total of ***one*** VA approved language school: [Kansai College of Business and Languages](https://www.tg-group.ac.jp/nihongo/e/top.html)

    >if there’s any way to make this so

    There is not.

Kansai College of Business and Languages managed it because they have an actual college component as well. A regular language school won’t get approved by the VA due to the lack of “real” education.

Your US veteran status has no effect on whether you will get approved for a CoE. The only thing immigration cares about is whether you can pay the bills.
