Itinerary check – 2.5 weeks in December (Tokyo, Sapporo, Kobe, Nagoya)

We will be heading to Japan for 2.5 weeks at the end of Dec / early Jan. We have been a few times so have covered most of the main tourist spots, however this time we will be going with 2 little ones, so the focus is a bit more kid orientated.

**Day 1 – Tokyo** \- Arrive in the evening and settle in

**Days 2 to 5 – Tokyo** \- We will spend 2 days going to Disneyland/Disneysea and the remaining 2 days will be general exploring. Might do a day trip to Yokohama or Mt Fuji.

**Day 6 – Sapporo** \- Fly to Sapporo in the morning. Drop off luggage. Spend the afternoon and evening wandering around Odori and checking out some illuminations. We have previously been to Sapporo so this is mainly for the kids to see snow.

**Day 7 – Sapporo** \- Check out Maruyama Park and Hokkaido Jingu in the morning. Head to the Beer Museum around lunchtime. Afternoon is free but maybe Mt Moiwa (weather permitting).

**Day 8 – Sapporo** \- Day trip to Otaru. Just general exploring and might go to the aquarium to see the penguin walk.

**Day 9 – Sapporo** \- Kids snow day. Probably head to Takino Suzuran if open. Will decide closer to date once opening days are confirmed.

**Day 10 – Sapporo/Kobe** \- Will check out Sapporo Fushimi Inari Shrine in the morning before flying to Kobe in the afternoon/evening.

**Day 11 – Kobe** \- Take a day trip up Mt Rokko to Arima Onsen, then back to Kobe via the cablecars.

**Day 12 – Kobe** \- Take the Shin-Kobe Ropeway and see the herb garden. Afternoon is free but will probably check out some shopping areas in Kobe and general exploring. If we don’t fee like catching another ropeway/cable car we might go the Osaka aquarium.

**Day 13 – Kobe** \- Free day – see question below.

**Day 14 – Nagoya** \- Travel to Nagoya in the morning, drop off luggage and head to Inuyama for the remainder of the day. Maybe Nabato no sato at night.

**Day 15 – Nagoya** \- Legoland

**Day 16 – Nagoya** \- Day trip to either Gujo Hachiman or Takayama. Probably Gujo Hachiman but if Takayama is snowing then I might be tempted to make the long day trip there.

**Day 17-20 – Tokyo** \- Final few days in Tokyo for last minute shopping and general wandering.

**General questions:**

1. We have previously done day trips to Nikko, Kamakura and Kawaguchiko, are there any Tokyo day trips that you would recommend in December?
2. We have a free day in Kobe and was thinking of doing a day trip. I wouldn’t mind going to Kurashiki but open to any suggestions? Have previously been to Kyoto, Osaka, Nara, Uji, Biwako so would rule those out.
3. Planning a day trip to Gujo Hachiman when in Nagoya unless there is a better suggestion?
