My daughter has recently been accepted into a private HS, and we have come to realize that the monthly fees have increased. While we are still able to afford the tuition, it may place some financial strain on us. I have conducted research and discovered a loan program —or that’s what I understood— that could provide us with financial assistance. Unfortunately, my Japanese is not good enough to understand its procedure. If there are any parents here who have been in the same situation or understand the website that I mentioned, I would love to hear their thoughts on this matter.

Before you commit to a loan, check the following link for some resources for financial assistance from MEXT. Also, there may be some programs available from your prefecture and/or city as well that are worth checking out. The link below will get you started:

Also, try the school itself. If you can demonstrate things will be rough, they might have support programs in place (usually created/funded through the pta/alumni) to help with some of the things like uniforms and books throughout the year.
