Himeji/Harima region: Any recs for trusty mechanics that accept foreigners?

Need my kei car fixed pretty bad.

Even though Kansai-area recs might not help me specifically, please include recs for mechanics in the Kansai area broadly. Might help someone else!

Edit: wording clarified

  1. As you probably know if you own a car in Japan, inspections are required here every two years.(車検)

So there are tons of nationally certified mechanics and decent car repair shops everywhere.

I hear that even schools for becoming a mechanic teach English these days, and I don’t see why they would refuse you just because you are a foreigner.

  2. I doubt that most car shops care if you’re a foreigner as long as you can communicate effectively in Japanese. They’re just as eager to take your money as anyone else’s. I’ve never had a problem getting my car serviced and they’ve always been friendly at the places I’ve gone to for things like tires and batteries.

  3. I don’t have any specific recommendations for your area but as one poster already mentioned, there are lots of mechanics you can go to. If you’re worried about the quality of the mechanic, I would just go to an official dealership. So if your kei is a Honda, take it to the Honda dealer near you.

I take my car to the official dealership where I bought it, and I never feel like I’m being taken advantage of. They are very particular about providing itemized receipts and showing me the parts that they have replaced.
