Temple University Japan TESOL Master’s program

Heard horrible things about the school and every other program it has except this one.

Only review I could find about the MEd in TESOL was a Google review from a guy who went way back in 1994 (he gave it 5 stars).

Wondering if anyone here has any actual knowledge/experience with this program, since it seems to be ideal for its particular education setting and career field opportunities.

The gig is that you work in a Japanese school as an ESL teacher (paid?) while you work on your classes to earn the master’s degree.

  2. You really think that if every other program at the school is terrible (which they are), they are just randomly going to have one program that is good? No.

  3. 1994 was 30 years ago. A LOT has changed in 30 years. A 30 year old review is completely irrelevant.

  4. Sounds pretty meh. ESL teachers are low paid enough already and I can’t imagine how much lower they’d go under the guise of graduate school education.

The ESL teacher career ceiling is already pretty low and having a masters probably won’t do much to break it.
