Yes, one can. You’d probably need to give month notice.
Try not to burn the bridge with the current employer. Negotiate the exit as soon as you have an assurance the next job is lined up. Don’t commit to a start date with the next job before you confirm the end date with the current one.
Most employers’ are very understanding of the career and financial needs of employees’ (doesn’t mean they’ll always meet the since there are competing needs).
Remember to get that recommendation letter on your way out.
