Vegetarians in Tokyo

What are the vegetarians eating in Tokyo? Everywhere I go it’s like 100% anti veg and literally bbq meat on skewers or limited fish dishes .. I paid more for 5 skewers of vegetables and mushrooms than it costs for the meat skewers and it was a ridiculous price. Please tell me where to go to get fresh salads and proteins for vegetarians. Save me from
Malnutrition I can’t do two weeks of this 😕 Thank you 🙏🏼

  1. There are plenty of great vegan and vegetarian restaurants in Tokyo! Below is a list of some of my favorites, but also as a general rule, if you can’t find a specifically vegan or veggie place to eat, Indian restaurants, some Mexican restaurants and places serving curry will generally be quite accommodating to vegetarian diets. Also, Google maps is pretty good for this, just search “vegan food near me”

    Great vegetarian food in Tokyo:

T’s tantan ramen in Tokyo station

    Vegan izakaya Masaya in Shibuya

    Kyushu Jangara ramen in Akihabara

  2. Vegan Uzu Ramen in TeamPlanets area
Shojin Ryori food all around Tokyo (Veg Temple food)

  3. Seconding happy cow app! Sometimes I had to go out of the way to find a place but found a ton of hidden gems that way. Also searched for IG accounts and YT vids too.

  4. Happy Cow is a great app to have and totally worth the cost. As far as restaurants, Kyushu jangara ramen has several locations in Tokyo and it’s hands down my husbands favorite ramen. They also opened a vegan bistro in harajuku that is amazing. Coco Ichibanya is a curry chain with vegetarian options. Since it’s a chain restaurant they are all over the place. If you want to try Kaiseki I recommend Bon in taito city. It’s pricy but worth it. It does require a reservation though and they spoke limited English.

  5. The thread I never knew I needed. Thanks for asking, OP!
