Gift for japanese colleague who helps me learn Japanese?

Hey everyone!

Sorry if this is not the right place to ask this question.

I live in Germany and started some months ago to learn Japanese. A very kind japanese colleague of mine is sometimes going on walks with me during our lunch break and trains with me by speaking some Japanese.

He is so kind and patient despite my lack of skills and I am very thankful.

I wanted to make maybe a little gift. I was thinking of writing a thank you card and some german sweets. Or maybe I will bake some german cookies and pack them nicely.

Is this appropriate? Maybe some of you have a better idea?

Many thanks in advance! 🙂

  1. Tenga.

Honestly, the most important thing about a gift is the thought behind it. I don’t think they would mind what it is. Perhaps local sweets.

  2. The thank you card and German cookies sounds so thoughtful and a gesture Japanese people would LOVE (coming from someone raised by Japanese parents but grew up overseas).

  3. I think you should use your own judgment. They’re not a stranger, you probably know them well enough. The idea you suggested sounds nice.

  4. if u a grill then maybe he’s doing it because he finds you cute or looking to get to know you. just a thought, don’t throw stones at me.

  5. A CMY cube. They helped you experience the world through a different lens. This gift does just that.
