What’s the easiest credit card to get in Japan, with a Shinsei Bank account?

I need recommendations on a credit card company in Japan. I have an account with SBI Shinsei Bank, and previously applied for their credit card and got declined. Moreover, I also applied to EPOS with the same result. I heard that it is easier to get a credit card with Rakuten but they don’t appear to accept payments from SBI Shinei Bank. Any suggestions?

  1. Note that once decline don’t reapply immediately for next credit card. Wait around 6months+ and reapply again as there will be record of declinations adding up to more rejection.
But some of the easiest are
    Rakuten
    Amazon
    Epos
But my suggestion is to head down to mall like aeon mall and all sign up at their counter in person to increase your chances. As the salesperson will try their best to get you a credit card for their benefits.

  2. I reckon the easiest way is to get a branded one instead of applying directly to the issuing company. I got one just after arriving in Japan by joining the gym. I didn’t even particularly want it. But it was essentially an MUFG card, just had the name the gym on it. The best card to get though would be one with air miles one from JAL or ANA, especially now tickets are exorbitant. Pick the one with a good partnership mileage program that includes an airline that flies to your home country.

  3. Just got EPOS, with my visa expiring in 5 months. Also my only bank is the post office one.

Maybe go to a high end mall and have it offered to you by their salesguy. Happened to us after finishing some payments at studio mario.

  4. Applying for a card in person is the easiest way to go. I had much more success applying in person than online when I first got a card here.

  5. PayPay will give you a credit card if you get a PayPay bank account. You will need a MyNumber card along with your residency card to apply. If you get approved you can transfer money from your Shinsei account to your PayPay account to pay the credit card charges.

  6. just try American Express, when I arrived to Japan few years ago, I called to ask for a credit I wasnt sure about, just called because they have english call center in Japan, after that they called me like 4 o 5 times to close the application, they fucking chased me to sign for the card…
