Help identifying sushi!


Hello everyone, I went to a local sushi restaurant here in Japan and ordered a sushi set but it didn’t have a description. Could you please help me identify what type of sushi I ate? I need help identifying 1,2,6,8,10,11, and 12. Thanks in advance!

  2. I’m quite certain #1 is shirako – buttery fish semen!

    I’d guess 2 is some form of ika (squid) but I’m not accustomed to seeing them quite that translucent.

    6 best guess would be hotate (scallop) though I generally don’t see it cut that way.

    8 I’m fairly certain is kazunoko (herring roe).

    10… maybe nodoguro? (literally ‘black throat’ not sure if there’s a different English name)

    11 no clue.

    12 I think hirame (halibut).
