I don’t think there’s anything as (in)famous as the NYT. Do you want highly rated, or best selling?
You could look at sites like this:

Or at booksellers rankings

Or by the looks of things you could just buy the latest 村上 and be done with it.
If you want highly regarded literature, look up recent nominees for things like the 直木賞. (Or equivalent genre specific prizes).
