  1. I’m not gonna act like this is intentional or anything but probably a better idea to abbreviate Japan to JPN rather than JAP.

This is actually a rare good wrestling shirt design and I think I’d buy this if I wasn’t going to be walking around brandishing a slur.

  2. Who thought that was a good idea? Like MattBarrySucks said, JPN is the common abbreviation used in the Olympics and other sporting events.

    Design is otherwise nice.

  3. NJPW designs all the merch. The wrestlers don’t have much of a say. The fact NJPW did this to themselves is strange.

  4. Really poor to see. There’s no excuse – it’s a well known derogatory slur. Hope it gets changed.

  5. Aside from the obvious gaff, this is one of the best wrestling shirts I’ve seen in years. Hope they fix it cuz this is dope

  6. Forget the shirt. Davis and Fletcher look like absolute jobbers in this graphic

  7. Such a great design, can’t believe no one noticed the glaring slur lol hoping it gets quickly altered and put up without it.

  8. They used the first three letters of each country, except USA because UNI would make no sense

people are really upset about this?

  9. i do love the design. the typography is placed nicely .the globe cartoon (i mean they been killing it around touring) i usually buy graphics like this. even on grailed lol but the jap abbreviation stuff can be deem offensive. but i wanna order this so i hope if fixed and all i can do so. looks like good skateboarding drip

  10. Davis and Fletcher seem like great dudes on the Indies, so I’m hoping they will change what I’m sure is an accident.

I’ve really been hoping for a new shirt from them and this one looks really nice.

  11. Aussie here, our local broadcaster for the World Cup put up a post of predicted teams to get out of the group and used the abbreviation JAP for a few hours until it was changed. I think us Aussies don’t really think too hard about it being a slur.

  12. Here in Japan, Japanese people use “JAP” and “JPN” interchangeably when shortening “Japan.” Japanese-Americans are the group that see the former inherently as a slur, not Japanese people in Japan.
