Discussion based websites like Reddit?

I’ve been searching for some time for a website kinda similar to Reddit where you can just casually chat to people about various topics or just lurk and read other people’s conversations. I’ve found some luck on Twitter, but maybe I just don’t know how to use the app right or something because I never find any long or interesting topics/conversations that I can follow for some time the same I can with an interesting Reddit thread, for example. I really enjoy reading story time threads where people share about their life experiences and stuff. I really think that if I had something similar to that but in Japanese it would make studying really really fun.

Does anyone know where to find a resource like that in Japanese? Does it exist?

  1. [There’s a list on Wikipedia](https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%9B%BB%E5%AD%90%E6%8E%B2%E7%A4%BA%E6%9D%BF) but it all looks like either the 4chan style boards or more specialised forums.

[There is a Japanese-speaking area of Reddit that hides itself quite well, at a glance it looks like mostly Japanese people](https://www.reddit.com/r/ja/comments/zhsxxd/%E5%88%9D%E5%BF%83%E8%80%85%E3%82%82%E3%81%BF%E3%82%93%E3%81%AA%E3%81%A7_reddit_%E3%82%92%E3%81%9F%E3%81%AE%E3%81%97%E3%82%82%E3%81%86/) but I’ve never spent much time there so can’t speak from experience.

There’s quite a large Japanese-speaking userbase on Twitter. Not so much on Tumblr, but Twitter is quite big in Japan and has its own subcultures etc. There’s some crossover in fandom/entertainment circles, hence why a lot of people working in entertainment will have ‘nihongo OK’ on their profiles, but otherwise the Japanese-speaking corner keeps to itself (very wise of them tbh).

  2. From what I’ve gathered Reddit-style forums just aren’t popular in Japan to the extent that they are in English-speaking countries. I think the closest thing with broad be adoption is Twitter.
