If I just paid my water bill 4 days late, is that really bad when they assess me for PR?

Edit:
I have seen many times on this subreddit that if you pay taxes and such late that it looks and when you go for PR

EDIT 2: so a lot of you have said it is only things like pension and tax , water is not a government utility so I guess it’s all ok!

Thanks all

  1. Only bills that could potentially matter would be taxes, health insurance and pension. Nobody is going to look at your water bill being late.

  2. Your utilities provider is not a government agency, so unless you’re really really late and they file suit against you you’ll be fine.

  3. Water bill is fine, but too much crossing the street when the little guy is still red will definitely sink your application.

  4. The moment you slam the door in the NHK salesperson’s face, you might as well head home. Missing a water bill is nothing compared to wrath of the NHK

  5. “I hearby grant you permanent resi…wait a second, you paid a bill late!? In that case, I condemn you to a life on Monster Island!”

  6. No the Immigration Bureau will be at your door deporting you within 24 hours. To make things more pleasant please lay face down in front of the nearest Koban to wait for processing.

  7. Yes, they’ll probably not even allow you to renew your visa next time. I haven’t heard of a foreigner doing sometimes this bad in years. I hope you learn from your mistakes.

  8. LOL. Not at all. If it were, they would NEVER have given it to me.

  9. I don’t think it matters unless it’s seriously overdue. AFAIK the only thing they check for is unpaid taxes and other government fees.

  10. If you have been separating your garbage correctly, they might overlook those 4 days. Just don’t do it again.

  11. I once missed so many electricity bills in a row, they cut my power. And that’s why I don’t get complimented on my Japanese ability any more.

  12. Anyone else here just to be amazed at how astonishingly low the bar is?
