Where can I get American snacks?

I like trying new foods, and OK, this might sound silly, but I’m really curious about some American snacks… I’d love to try some Reese’s peanut butter cups, Girl Scout’s Cookies, and See’s Candies.

Is there anywhere I can get them with reasonable price? I checked online, and no, I’m not gonna shell out 3,000-ish yen for a box of Thin Mints.

  1. Try ‘Jupiter’. If there’s one near you .. they have reasonable priced foreign snacks

  2. Girl Scout cookies are sold by Girl Scout troops only at certain times of the year and you have to order through a local group. Unless you know someone who can buy it and send it to you that one will be very difficult.

See’s you can call them to place an order over the phone, but they might not ship chocolates in the summer.

Reese’s used to be more available, but they aren’t sold much here anymore. That one you might have to just pay an up charge to order online. Seems like it’s not *that* bad on Amazon if you just want to try it once.

  3. Make a friend with someone who has access to a US base. The commissary usually carries a good assortment of snacks.

  4. You have to order GS cookies from a military base troop – there are non military GSUSA troops in Japan but they are not allowed to sell them (no system for import I guess) 🙁

  5. The Jupiter and Caldi chains often have imported sweets, as do some shops in Ameyoko. If you note a general location for shopping, you might get specific recommendations. I myself am always on the lookout for the (in Japan) reviled licorice, so I frequent shops that have imported sweets, but I live in Tokyo and so do not know much about other places in Japan.
