Hi! I’ve been selected for a three month internship in Fukuoka, my company asked me to get some tests done for my medical insurance but didn’t specify which ones. I searched online but I couldn’t find any specific tests, I’m moving there in a few weeks. My company wants them done before I move.. I found these in a blog, these are for the yearly health checkup in Japan.
1) physical measurement
2) doctor’s consultation
3) blood pressure measurement
4) vision and hearing test
5) urine test
6) chest X-ray
7) ECG and blood test.
I asked them if these were enough and they gave a thumbs up. But then again “blood test” and “urine test” are umbrella terms 🥲. I asked them for specifics there and they had no clue, I need help with that, maybe someone here can help. Thanks in advance!

Blood tests are your standard range. Testing for blood cell counts, vitamins (A, Bs), some hormones, some minerals (iron, potassium, sodium), lipids and cholesterol, kidney and liver function. Urine test is for kidney function.
I’m not a doctor so I can’t promise this is correct, but it’s what I got at my new job physical.
Here’s a list of things doctors check in a standard health check up for people who have National Health Insurance. This is basically the very basics in Japan. The guide is from Osaka City website but it’s basically the same anywhere. That aside, just ask for a standard health checkup if your employer didn’t specify the details.
