Someone could tell me something about this mark on this plate? It is only for decoration or for food? I found in an ancient Italian house(a strange place for a Japanese plate)
While searching I found this quote from someone trying to explain it to an english speaker :
>So, imagine: You come back home, and in the entrance hall there is an object (like some kind of tray) where you put your keys and other stuff hanging around your pockets.

[This one](https://www.bibelotandco.fr/en/empty-pocket-in-polychrome-satsuma-porcelain-63913) is very similiar. It translates as “Empty pocket in polychrome Satsuma porcelain”, but I don’t know what the english name is for it.
