Recently gotan email talking about that location bonus being standardized across all ALTS and their base salary will rise according to whatever the change is. How are they even thinking this is possible? So someone who drives to three or more schools is going to get the same location “bonus” as someone who bikes to their one school? HUH?!?!

Location bonus and travel expenses are not the same thing.
The cycling teacher would still get no transport expenses paid. The driving position teacher would get part of their car rental and fuel covered.
Doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Idk what the payment structure is going to look like. But based on my experience the car+insurance was basically paid by interac through a combination of a location bonus and a car bonus.
As long as that stays the same I don’t see any problem with those that have to ride a bike everywhere getting the location bonus.
Personally that location bonus going into my bank account would not offset the convince of the car.
Let me guess… Interac! They get to lower your location bonus and raise your salary by the same amount while claiming to give everyone a 2% raise when in actuality, they are not paying any more out of pocket. They need to look like they are giving raises since it’s happening all over Japan, but they don’t want to actually give a raise.
So, I’ve already gotten my new contract from my branch.
My pay hasn’t changed and it’s actually not a horrible thing. I might be wrong, but I think this is due to external pressure potentially.
Also, with it not being position allowance, it isn’t prorated the same as our salary, so it could end up being a good thing. Or being the same. I’m not sure at the moment.
But, it does ONLY impact our position allowance and the money is just being moved to our main salary. At least in my case.
