Accommodation in Japan: Hakone, Fuji Five Lakes, Atami and Izu

Modern or classic ryokan? Private or public onsen?

Which are the best options for access to the Loop? Which have the best views of Mt. Fuji? Which cater to solo visitors?

Maybe you need to find a ryokan or a hotel with a shuttle? Or the one that caters to vegan or vegetarian visitors.

And of course, which places you do not recommend.

This is the thread, where you should discuss all your recent experiences regarding Hakone, Mt. Fuji and Izu Peninsula or ask questions about upcoming trips there.

  1. Right now in the live max resort at Hakone.
To be honest the room is very nice, the buffet is also very good.
I don’t have a car and you need to walk 10 min but it’s OK if you have a bag.

  2. Personally, I prefer a modern ryokan with a private onsen. For access to the Loop, I recommend looking for accommodations close to a train station. As for views of Mt. Fuji, I heard that hotels in Kawaguchiko offer some of the best views. I’m not sure about solo visitor accommodations, but it wouldn’t hurt to check with the ryokan or hotel beforehand. Additionally, for those with dietary restrictions, finding a ryokan that caters to vegan or vegetarian visitors might be necessary. As for places to avoid, I would steer clear of any accommodations with poor reviews or ones that seem sketchy. Can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experiences in Hakone, Mt. Fuji and Izu Peninsula!
