As I’m still early in my learning, it’s making immersion easy and accessible. Thought I’d share in case it was new for anyone else and if anyone has song recommendations! It makes kanji stick much easier for me.
I’ve been enjoying 私このままでいいのかな and 死ぬのがいいわ.

Someone should look into this, because if it’s one of those *hey let’s stick in google translate and call it multi-language* then it’s going to be… not so good. Lyrics are generally way too context-heavy with all kinds of figurative language, all of which are worst elements to pair with machine translation.
Gleaned from my Japanese Jams playlist, any songs by Anri, Yumi Arai, or Maria Takeuchi are bangers, highly recommend!
This is similar to something I have been kinda worried about when it comes to learning Japanese. I enjoy a few Japanese songs where I have no idea what the lyrics are. Meanwhile in English there are a lot of songs I hate mainly cause of the lyrics to songs and just like the melody. It has me worried if I do learn Japanese if im gonna hate those songs now that I understand the lyrics as words instead of just “sounds” as it is now.
For learning japanese, I’ve found YOASOBI’s songs really great. She articulates a lot, so the words are easier to identify compared to a lot of other songs. Also the songs slap, I recommend 怪物、祝福、夜に駆ける and アイドル.
And I can’t not recommend my all-time favorite band, King Gnu. Their lyrics are quite harder to understand as a learner, but their songs are certified bangers. My recommendations would be 一途、白日、傘、and Tokyo Rendez-Vous.
Enjoy !
