Is there a Japanese version to Simon says?
If there isn’t how would you explain it?
I have very limited Japanese and my attempts to explain it so far have not fully worked.

Good lord, if you can’t explain Simon Says with gestures and easy English you really don’t know what you’re doing! Just do it! They’ll pick it up. Use your name if it’s easier than Simon…
It’s called 船長の命令 (Sencho no meirei, literally the Captain’s orders)
Just do it, why explain stuff. They’re human beings. They can learn and adapt to a given situation.
I call it The Please Game, and their cue to do/not do something is whether I say please or not.
Years ago when I taught Elementary I would use “sensei says.”
just show them a random yt video.
Demo it with a teacher. Its quite a common game for English teaching so I’d be surprised any Japanese people you work with don’t know it (though it’s not impossible). If you’re working in schools then I believe some of the textbooks list it as an activity. Else just search サイモンセズゲーム for Japanese rules you can show.
Its Simon Says. Its very simple. Do a demonstration with the teacher. Unless you ARE the teacher. If so, do a demonstration with a student. NO need to verbally explain.
Why use the name Simon? Probably better to use your name or just say “sensei says” or “teacher says”
