Itinerary Check: 13 Days Tokyo > Hakone > Kyoto > Tokyo

13 Days in June

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.

About us: coming for our honeymoon, no children, happy to stay out late for a fun night, but also both big fans of history. Travelling can tire my partner out – so not planning in a lot for travel days at the moment – appreciate this may look light.

I will be looking to book some high end evening meals for a few nights.

**Day 1:**

Arrive Haneda Airport – collect international sim and load two IC Welcome Suica cards for onwards travel.

Take Limousine bus to hotel in Shinjuku – free afternoon for travel recovery/exploring around Shinjuku centre

**Day 2:**

Morning – Imperial Palace Gardens –

Afternoon – Teamlab Planets Tokyo

Evening: Shinjuku food tour (though I understand this is more like a bar crawl) – night out

**Day 3:**

Morning: Visit Sumo training centre

Afternoon: City Centre Go Karting

Evening: Fine dining

**Day 4:**

“Romance” Train to Hakone – reservation pre-booked – I believe we can use the IC card for the ticket element?

Settle in and enjoy the Onsen/town

**Day 5:**

Hakone free pass (cable car, lake tour, etc.)

**Day 6:**

Start 7 day JR Pass: IC card to Odawara, Bullet train to Kyoto using JR Pass. Explore local area around hotel.

**Day 7:**

Morning: Imperial Palace

Afternoon: Food tour

**Day 8:**

Day trip to Osaka

Food tour

Osaka castle

Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street

**Day 9:**

Day trip to Himeji inc. Castle/Koko-en

**Day 10:**

Day: Fushimi Inari-Taisha (I’m told this can be a decent hike following the heights and so could be most of the day?)

Evening: fine dining

**Day 11:**

Morning: Nishiki Market

Afternoon: Nijo-jo

**Day 12:**

JR Pass bullet train back to Tokyo – day as yet unplanned to see if we would like more time in Kyoto or Tokyo before getting the train

**Day 13:**

Fly back from Haneda

  1. What onsen did you pick for day 4? You’re going to love hakone. It will be mid rainy season but hakone is lovely, regardless
