I set it to 26 degrees and the room turns into a fridge. I set it to 27 and I’m now working in a steam sauna. Is this standard for all AC units? Is it just mine? Am I going through menopause?
Do you have any device that checks the room temperature and room humidity? If you do actually set it to 26 and the room goes to like 20 degrees, there’s definitely a malfunction there.
In these situations I set it to 26 and set it to quiet, or low wind mode. It’s probably not great for electricity consumption, but it helps to find that comfortable midpoint
I find exactly the same thing.
When I set ours to 26, It usually goes into slow mode at 26, and depending on the time of the day the room may end up 25 after a while.
Check humidity. 26 high humidity may feel very hot, wheareas 26 dry may feel very cold.
Sounds like a malfunction, how old is the unit? You could try [cleaning the sensor](https://i.imgur.com/v9wzVxI.png) with alcohol, usually requires taking the front panel off.
I have this problem sometimes too. I’m gonna try circulating the air around the room with a separate fan soon as I suspect the cold air is just concentrating on one area.
I assuming the condensate tray is not draining well so when cooling switches off the fan cycles moisture back into the room. I have one unit doing this fairly bad. I’ll be investigating when I clean it.
We must have the exact same machine!
I had the same issue in my old apartment. When I moved into a nicer place with better insulation and a newer AC model, I stopped having this problem. I set mine to 25 on the lowest fan setting and it keeps my room very comfortable
Your air conditioner is only checking the temperature of the air right around the air conditioner. It has no idea what the temperature is on the other side of the room.
To get your air conditioner to run as efficiently as possible, you also need to run a fan to circulate the air around the room.
Set up a fan and experiment with placing it in different parts of the room facing in different directions, and at different speeds and swingin/not swinging to see which approach assists the air conditioner the best.
Yeah, same thing here. Mitsubishi type. What is working for me either 26 with the windows open or 27 and a fan directly pointed at my face
Small room sizes, low thermal mass, little to no insulation + aircon makes for very quick temperature swings. It’s a blessing when you come home and want to quickly cool down the room, a huge curse any other time.
A little different for me a perpetually cold person but I swear there is a huge difference between 28C and 27C. Every summer I really wish it was possible to set it to 27.5 lol
This is so true. Exact same thing here
I thought I was crazy, but same here
What is your fan speed. I found out that setting it to auto is by far the best way. And it saves electricity too. The downside to it is in the beginning, as it will seem like it’s not really working, but with patience, the aircon eventually start working and keep good steady temperature throughout the day.
Also setting it to rotate the wind direction helps cuz a aircon that’s blowing only in one direction will cause the aircon not properly measure the room temperature. Air circulation helps a lot.
Definitely not just you. This is why I miss my old heat pump in Canada. It was 120$ per month in electricity to keep my large 4 bedroom house 20c all year round 🤣
Mine is like that too lol. I always find even a degree of difference makes it change from fridge to sauna and it’s around the 26-27 range. I don’t know how people set theirs to like 20 degrees. Now I’m staying at my in-laws apartment and it’s the same. My husband sets it to 27 overnight and I wake up drenched in sweat, change it to 26.0 or 26.5 (this one allows half degrees) and I’m freezing and need a blanket.
I kind of suspect it’s when the outside air is about at equilibrium with your room. Then it dosent need to cool down and humidity creeps back in.
I experienced this before the unit went completely on the fritz a few days later. Subsequently, I purchased a 2 pack of aerosol aircon cleaner from the drug store & prayed for the best. Thankfully, it’s working much better, but it was feeling like Africa with the thermostat at 21 degrees prior.
Well then set it to 26.5!
Am I the only one setting it to 16?
Celsius temperature adjustments are just that stupid.
Try 26.5? Mine lets me adjust it .5 degrees at a time and 26.5 is actually what I keep it on
The two things I hate most about the start of summer:
AC and shower water are never a comfortable temp. I’ve lived in about 10 different rental places of varying ages and it’s always the same!
Same.
Set it to dehumidifier, 28 degrees, low air speed fan. Then, buy a normal fan to circulate the air.
You don’t want to be using the aircon to lower the temperature when humidity is the enemy. Also, shits expensive.
