My company is no longer allowing us to choose our own doctor for our 健康診断. I’ve had bad experiences with the company-selected facilities in the past, and already see my own doctor pretty much monthly. I’d prefer seeing my own doctor for the health check, but they won’t allow it, even if I pay for it myself. I’ve searched through previous posts, but don’t see this particular question answered before. How typical is this that companies mandate a particular doctor rather than allowing you to choose your own doctor?

I’ve had two companies providing health checks so far, and both had a particular facility we had to go to.
Never had trouble with either neither, so I never questioned it.

I thought that companies **always** choose the place for the annual health check and therefore the doctors.
Choosing your own doctor is not even a normal/regular option.
It’s normal for your company to choose where to take you annual health check and I don’t even understand how you can have bad experience in such a basic health check up
My current and former companies said that we can use their doctor at the time scheduled, paid by them, or we can use our own but we gotta schedule it and pay for it.
I feel you, I had a bad experience with our company place too. If I wanted to go through the hassle of arranging it with my doctor then it is technically allowed, but I’ve never tried to do it.
The company health check is so pointless though, no?
It’s just your company jumping through hoops.
If it’s anything like at my company, it’s just an EKG, waist measurement, weight and height measurement, hearing test, vision test, blood test, piss test, and then a 10 sec “consultation” with whichever quack they’ve pulled out of retirement that day. There’s nothing to have a “bad experience” with. If you’re worried about the Barium exam, just refuse it, like I do every year. I also refuse the chest X-ray, and there’s nothing my company can do about it.
I am fortunate in that my company doesn’t care if you take their free and shit exam. They also subsidize 人間ドック. I do that and then never give them results. No one has ever said a word.
Well I mean, they can’t stop you from going to see your own doctor on your own time if you pay for it.
As an aside, I don’t understand why this post and all my comments are getting downvoted. What’s wrong with a polite, honest question and differing perspectives?
Take the company ones for free. And have another one at your preferred medical provider. Problem solved.
