These are screenshots of spoiler-free parts from a One Piece chapter (1044), with background text that represents sounds happening the scene. I cannot understand what the first character shown is. I cannot find it online and OCR tools do not recognize it.
My best bet is that it is another style for writing わ , or is it something else, like a rarely used character like ゑ ?

It’s just a slightly sloppy わ.
It’s not another writing style. The curved part is just slightly to the left of the straight vertical stroke.

My first thought was a really sloppy み
My language exchange partner writes わ, ね, and れ this way too, and I’ve been copying it ever since. It’s easier than writing it normally which always turns out uglyyy.
