Any views for which deck to start with?

I have recently started doing my anki core 2k/6k deck and I am already 190 cards into it
But someone suggested me about RTK or Tango N5?
Should I switch decks? Or should I read Tango N5 textbook rather than deck?

edit: I just found multiple sources of tango N5 deck too
Like Tango N5 (MIA) and Tango N5 nukemarie or Tango N5 (moe way) which one of those is better?

  1. Think about what you want to learn and not which deck. RTK teaches kanji meanings, vocab decks like core teach vocab.

Everyone has a different opinion on what to do first. You have to find the answer for yourself. The way I did it was RTK into vocab, but others will disagree that that’s the best way.

  2. I’ve been creating another one that starts from zero:

It’s currently on #1 of Ankiweb’s Japanese deck listing:

In general, I’d recommend to try several different resources for some time and stick to whatever you like most, also beyond Anki. Anki and flashcards are quite popular among Japanese learners and often recommended, but if you don’t like this format, you shouldn’t force yourself using it. This is what I did myself: I had tried a lot of different resources for at least 2-4 weeks each and whenever I didn’t like something, I replaced or dropped it. Quite often, I felt a bit lost during this process but it payed off in the end.

  3. It does not matter. Do a few cards of Tango and then pick the one you like better. The important thing is not which deck you use but that you actually follow through and learn ~ 1K-2K words from it.
