I’m very new to studying Japanese. I’m about to finish my first textbook (JP from zero 1), so I know hiragana and some basic grammar and vocab. My birthday is coming up so I wanted to ask for some Japanese children’s books. Do you guys have any recommendations for books that involve a lot of daily convo sort of dialogue? Much appreciated!

The manga Yotsuba would be my recommendation.
If you don’t know many kanji, yet, I can recommend getting a [set of graded readers](https://dokushoclub.com/2022/02/12/graded-readers/)!
Those are shorter books written for learners. They will have vocabulary, grammar and characters chosen specifically for each reading level. There are 5-6 short books in a set, so I believe it would make a great gift 🙂
I really like this [website](https://reajer.weebly.com/) for stories/poems — they have helpful explanations and translations, as well as the original text at the bottom of the page in case you want to try your hand at translating yourself. 🙂
Crystal Hunters Manga was specifically written for learners https://crystalhuntersmanga.com/free-stuff/
This [site](https://tadoku.org/japanese/en/free-books-en/#l0) has a lot of free graded readers
