Does Bic Camera not price match their own website? I went to their brick and mortar this weekend and bought a washer dryer. I didn’t catch it until right after I paid but it’s 10,000 yen cheaper on their own website.
It was almost closing time and I speak only limited Japanese and when I tried to show them the price on their own store site and use Google translate, they said they wouldn’t/couldn’t price match it and just led me out of the store. They said it was because of having to pay for the staff, etc.
Additional kicker was that a different staff told us it was discounted 2,000 yen off the sticker price that day. Still got charged the full sticker price
Is it normal for stores to not price match their own online stores in Japan?

Had a similar experience at nojima. After showing the salesman it was cheaper buying from their online store, he recommended that I buy it online
Dont buy at Bic Camera.
If you want to haggle and get really good prices (similar to what you can find online), go to K’s Denki.

I’ve had them match the online site before, it wasn’t a big deal.
If you’re going right before closing time, however, you’re in for a bad time. They just want to leave like any other employee and will do the bare minimum to get you to leave.
Yodobashi Camera did this to me years ago when I wanted to buy a video camera.
I just went home and bought it on [Kakaku.com](https://Kakaku.com) for 20,000 yen less.
In my experience, showing them the kakaku dot com price they will lower their price and add points to match the cheapest price. I wouldn’t show the bic camera website price as they can easily argue that it’s a separate operation from them bla bla bla.
Only did this with substantially expensive items (eg fridge, washer/dryer).
You need to make sure to speak with bic camera employees, and not brand reps.
But then if bic camera dot com is already cheaper you might as well just order from the website. Youll get the same support AFAIK.
They should price match but depending on the shop (specifically the employee), good luck! I had a horrible experience at BIC 2 months ago where they proactively offered me a discount and then went back on it when it was time to pay! The manager of the store even came out to tell me the discount simply wouldn’t be allowed and that’s “the same at any store in the country”
The discount was 700 yen lol
Ive had the opposite experience at Yodobashi Camera. I showed them a cheaper price on amazon and they matched. It was for high end camera lens.
Yodobashi is the same.
