  2. Fun fact: the Japanese sailed westward to reach Brazil. They didn’t cross the pacific.

  3. Just give decent 3-5 yr visa to current immigrants! I have renewed my visa 6-7 times and always get 1 yr visa.

  4. Or you could give it to people like me who have lived here for over fifteen years and speak the langage.

  5. Haha, I am third generation, but am living in Japan under a normal working visa. Never realised I could have gotten permanent residency.

  6. There’s something slightly unsettling about a legislature that reluctantly accepts immigration as long as there is some ‘Japanese blood’ present.

  7. I’m 4th generation, but 36years old…..Japan youre such a tease.

  8. I really feel like this is just going to be another case of Japan making the same mistakes it made in the 80s and 90s.
