pet sitter for a very nervous dog

Hello all,

My wife and I are in a bit of a pickle.
We have a 3 year old dog that is very nervous and skittish around people. She is not aggressive towards them just shys away.

We are planning on taking a 2 week vacation early next month, and need to find a pet sitter who can look after our dog. We would prefer a sitter/trainer to potentially help her deal with people better.

We looked at some pet hotels but they all told us she was to nervous and could be a liability for them.

Any advise or help would be welcome. If any dog trainers/sitters see this and would like to take a job please DM me and we can discuss

Thanks

  1. Can you try the local online classified sites and explain this to them? A private and compassionate pet sitter might be in the cards if you reach out.

  2. Do you regret getting a dog? Would you advise others against it because of things like this?

  3. There is a FB group called “Housesitting and petsitting Japan”. Try asking there.

  4. How old is your dog? Where do you live?

I recommend taking her to doggy daycare with dog trainers that also run overnight hotels. Gradually get her used to that place. If she’s used to the environment, staying the night won’t be such an issue eventually.

  5. What breed of dog?
what is her normal daily routine?
    Where are you based?

  6. I don’t know your location but I found an amazing pet sitter through the website doghuggy.com

  7. I had a cat sitter for my cat. Found her on a web site, serious person who was coming everyday day and sending pics and a report for 2-3000 the 40mn visit.
