We are planning on climbing Mt. Fuji on july 7th and 8th and will be doing it from the Subashiri trail. The best way to get there from Shinjuku would be to ride the train to Gotemba station and then take a bus to the Subashiri 5th station. The thing is, before july 10th is considered to be off-season for the bus schedules, so I don’t know if there will even be buses available.
There is also a way to get to Subashiri 5th station from Shin-Matsuda station, but I can’t find up-to-date bus schedules for that route.
What would be the best way to get to Subashiri 5th station on july 7th?

Frankly, if you’re willing to pay for it, it’s possibly easier to hire a private tour with a van to take you there. I paid under $400 for a full day with a driver who acted something of a guide to take my family around in a van. It made the process easier of visiting the area in general without spending as much time working out the details of transportation since it seems to be less efficient than it is in the cities.
