How to register in public wifi in Japan?

Bit of an odd question, but I recently often work at libraries or convenience store eat-in areas to get out of the house a bit. When I‘m there, I‘d like to use the public wifis. However, that link they send you to complete your registration — it never works for me. Never.
So I can only use the wifi for 10 minutes until I have to register again with a different email address. A massive hassle, so I‘d like to fix it. Anyone had the same issue or has an idea what to do?

  1. This sounds like your laptop/whatever problem more than “how to register”. What provider is doing this free wifi thing? Docomo is doing their d-wifi thing nationwide, but you need to be ~~their customer (obviously).~~ have a d-account and d-point card. https://www.docomo.ne.jp/service/d_wifi/

The rest of the stuff really depends on provider/what they want. Are you clicking the link on same device where you applied for it?

edit: docomo wifi doesnt require being customer i guess

  2. Some of these systems, they will send you an email which you have to click though to confirm, and the session is cut off after a short time if you do not.

If you did not receive it, perhaps check your spam mail folder to see if it might be there.

A few of these captive portals do not work properly if you have any adblocking software running. If you do, try to temporarily disable it until you’ve authenticated your session.

Are you clicking on the link from the same device?

For example, if you connect to the wifi on your laptop, fill in the registration, and then click the link from your phone, it won’t work.

Whichever device you fill the form out on is the one that you need to use to click the link
