i’ve been researching bars with kawayuka for my trip to japan this august, for the few days in kyoto (11th-15th), but it’s been hard to find ones that build the terraces on the river. i just see the usual izakayas pop up, but for at least part of the night, i’d like to try to be outside on the kawayuka. wondering if basically all bars/restaurants along the river build them, so that’s why it’s hard for me to find ones offering this?
i’m looking to stay in downtown kyoto not far from my ryoken, so not anywhere in kibune or anything. i have a few dinner spots i’m interested in so gonna prioritize their good food ratings over kawayuka dining, so that’s why i’m hoping to find more drink-focused kawayuka in the area. does anyone have personal recommendations for good drink places, or know of a good sight where it specifies if the bar does/doesn’t do the summer terraces? or is it basically expected that every bar/restaurant along the water does build kawayuka, so maybe my friend and i can walk along pontocho and just bar hop and will likely find a bar with one?
i also like to just do the research so that i learn what places are tourist-friendly and can add options to a list and stop in the ones we come across walking
thanks in advance!
