Need some Rcomendations

I’m self learning using duolingo and some textbooks but find real world examples the best way to make things stick. To that end I was hopeing for some book (or similar) recomendations that I could work towards being able to read. Ideally some low level stuff (that children might be expected to read) as well as some that are a bit more advanced.

Thanks.

  1. There is a Japanese graded reader book series, although its aimed at learners. There is also Easy NHK new, again aimed at learners, that is simplified news stories [https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/easy/](https://www3.nhk.or.jp/news/easy/) . If you are using chrome there is an extension called “Rikaikun” that lets you mouse over any Japanese word and get the reading and meaning. Also, things like Netflix have Japanese shows with Japanese subtitles. One I love is called “Old enough” in English. You can choose which language you want to listen to it in. It is a show about young Japanese children trying to carry out tasks in their town, given by their parents. So they usually speak at a simple level.
