Offered to work in International Investment Bank Costing?

I’m currently working in India location and is being offered a position in Tokyo to build new team.

Wanted to clarify on costing with me wife and one child who is 2.5 year old

Currently I don’t have JPY offer (Glassdoor says same position JPÂ¥1,60,00,000 annual) yet so can’t say how much they are giving but what would be good pay to live to work in Tokyo with child education.

My wife is physiotherapist assuming she cant work until she does some certification what’s her scope there?

I heard education is very expensive along with rent and electric and phone bills.

Another point being vegetarian food how easy difficult to get vegetables to make Indian food at home.

Hence I wanted to know how big house can I rent, education cost and what could I save by month end.

It does depend a bit on where in Tokyo you want to live, and on your expectations/requirements. If you get over 10M, you have more than average, and will be fine. If you need international schools you should probably be ok, even if it would take a huge chunk of your budget. With 16MÂ¥ you would have no issues.

Phone bills and electricity are miniscule in this context. Rent depends on the area and what your needs are. If you want to live in Minato-ku, in a big flat, with a nice view. Yeah that will be expensive. But there are several affordable areas as well.

Education will cost a lot if you need an international school. But I think the Indian International schools are amongst the more affordable of the international schools.

It’s easy to get vegetables and make vegetarian food yourself. It’s getting more common in restaurants as well, but it’s a slow process. There are loads of Indian restaurants, as well, that always have vegetarian options.

If you have 16M per month. You can probably rent a 3LDK (3 rooms+Living,Dining,Kitchen) apartment or a 3-4 LDK detached house. In the outskirts of Tokyo that would probably be around 120-200K per month, but can be more in some areas. Education will depend on your demands. But IIJS (Indian International School) is 600k per child per year for elementary school.
