A little help with Japanese Festival

Hello everyone I am going to Japan from 14th September to 8th October and doing Hiroshima > Osaka > Kyoto > Tokyo
I wanted to inform myself about festivals and specials day during this period and I found that during my stay there will be :

Keirô no Hi (elder celebration) Shubun no Hi(Autumn celebration) Maneki Neko day and Tofu day.

But I didn’t find any information about what is planned in which city or anything. Do you know a website that will help me see which event I will be able to attempt or any ressources directed that way?

Thank you for your advices 🙏

Those are just national holidays with very little celebration directly related to them.

    > Maneki Neko day and Tofu day.

These are just silly named days, not unlike “May the 4th be with you” or [National Cat Day](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Cat_Day). They will have very little celebration associated with them outside of some specific businesses related to the topic.

As for actual festivals, the [Shinagawa Shukuba Matsuri](https://shinagawa-shukuba-matsuri.tokyo/) ([English summary](https://en.japantravel.com/tokyo/shinagawa-shukuba-matsuri/60309)) in Tokyo will likely be held on Sept 17th this year, but I guess you won’t be in Tokyo yet.

  2. Festival season kind of ends by August to be honest so you’re kind of late on that front.

And even then there’s not always a festival going on everywhere. Might not have anything going on for any of the weekends where you physically are Like yes some shrines or towns might have a local festival but information on those are usually less well known as it’s a local event.

  3. There’s often still a festival going on even outside of festival season. The key is that you can’t be hard-wired into just doing the same and boring Tokyo/kyoto/osaka route, and need to be flexible to go where the festival is. Festivals in smaller towns/more remote areas are fantastic.

You just barely miss the Takayama Festival (Oct 9/10), but there appears to be one in Nara over Sept 28/29.
