Are there restrictions to the work that can be done when applying for permission to work a second job? Can I run a side business, or do they expect me to be employed with a company?
Depends on your contract, but things like side business and stocks where you file your own taxes there’s no way for your company to know your doing a side gig so I wouldn’t really worry about getting permission too much
Usually your side work needs to be within the scope of your visa. It also cannot exceed 28hr a week and the income should be less than your income from your main job. If you’re on a dependent visa your income cannot be greater than the person who’s sponsoring your visa.
I’m not too sure about the starting a company, hopefully someone else here would know.
