I’m traveling Japan and will be here this Friday when the new Miyazaki will be released! I am super down to go and see it without subtitles but I was wondering if there’s any chance anyone has some information if there are any english subtitled screenings happening in the country. I am willing to travel by shinkansen.

Really unlikely. Do you often see movies in English with English subtitles in cinema?
Does the new Marvel movie play with Japanese subtitles on opening day in New York?
Unless they’re doing a simultaneous international release there’s probably not even a English translation yet.
Agree with others. It seems highly unlikely you’ll find a theatrical release with subtitles – it does not even got an international release date yet, so might not even have subtitles available.
That said, I think it would be an amazing experience to see his final film in Japan on release day. You’ll likely be able to piece together the essence of the film and you’ll have a visual delight. Do it!!!!
If you read the news, the producers are doing a no marketing campaign. They even haven’t released a trailer yet. It will be interesting to see how this strategy will play out.
